The Scarborough CCTV control room makes a major contribution to the safety of our streets in Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Eastfield, Malton, Norton and Pickering – but it is only as good as the small team of operatives who staff the control room. About The Role Your vigilance and initiative will make all the difference; cameras may see everything, but they can’t make decisions – you can. You will receive full training on using the equipment, reviewing digital evidence, maintaining daily logs, use of radios and other duties. You will provide support to North Yorkshire Police and colleagues within North Yorkshire Council in the protection from, and detection of, crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour. You will support retail and night time economy members of the Shop Watch and Pub Watch schemes that operate across the area by sharing intelligence and responding to live incidents. You will be responsible for accurately recording and completing all necessary administration, reviewing and producing evidence and make necessary copies and statements for partner agencies. As part of this role you should be enthusiastic, a good communicator and have the ability to work, and make decisions, under pressure. You will be expected to confidently liaise with internal colleagues and external partners, whilst also providing an out-of-hours call response to members of the public. About You You will- Be a confident communicator, with the ability to make decisions, work under pressure and multitask. Have experience of computer systems, data base entry and a range of computer software. Have, or be willing to work towards, a Level 2 Award for working as a CCTV Operator. Ideally, have experience operating and monitoring surveillance equipment and digital recording equipment. The ability to learn how to monitor cameras within a control room environment. Be prepared to undertake an eyesight and/or hearing test where required. Be willing to work long shifts and on your own initiative; shift times are, predominantly, 12 hours and require confidence in lone-working. Be willing to work unsociable hours; the CCTV Control Room operates 24 hours per day, all year round. Consequently, you will be required to work day shifts, night shifts, weekends and public holidays.
