Job Overview
The Acute Medicine Therapy Team at Queens Hospital is recruiting Band 6 Occupational Therapy posts. The post holder will join an established, vibrant and friendly team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and assistant staff who share an office base and work closely together to provide a consistent and responsive Therapy service to all Acute Medicine wards.
Responsibilities
* Provide advanced OT assessments and treatments across annual rotations into Acute Medicine, the Discharge Assessment Unit, Frailty / Front Door, Trauma Orthopaedics / General Surgery, Oncology and Discharge to Assess at Community Hospitals.
* Deliver strength‑based, holistic and patient‑centred quality care, ensuring effective problem‑solving.
* Manage complex discharges in a fast‑paced acute hospital environment and communicate effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary and Therapy team.
* Work closely with senior OT and Physiotherapists to ensure optimum service delivery and delay avoidance.
* Develop the service and support colleagues, carrying a caseload independently while providing supervision to junior OT staff.
* Adapt, remain calm and delegate work to OT and assistant staff to ensure priorities across the service are covered.
Qualifications
* Band 5 Occupational Therapy experience with relevant skills and a passion for Acute Medicine.
* Demonstrated experience in managing complex discharges within an acute hospital setting.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multi‑disciplinary team.
