We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and highly motivated nurse to join our dynamic Maternity Recovery/High Dependency team.

Main duties of the job
Working with our specialist maternity service, you will provide high quality post‑operative and post‑anaesthetic care to women following procedures such as caesarean sections, ensuring a safe and supportive recovery for mothers. You will play a key role in monitoring women in the immediate postnatal period, managing pain effectively and recognising early signs of deterioration. Collaborating closely with midwives, obstetricians, and anaesthetists you will contribute to the multidisciplinary approach that prioritises dignity, safety, and family‑centred care. You will also care for women with complex or high‑risk conditions who require a higher level of observations and clinical management. This role offers the chance to develop advanced skills working alongside the multidisciplinary team committed to providing safe, personalised, and high‑quality care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* RN1/ RN2 or RN12 Registered Nurse on the NMC register / Operating Department Practitioner on the HCPC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality
* BSc / 1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience
* Evidence of ongoing professional development in relevant area of speciality supplemented by specialist clinical, supervisory training and CPD
* Intermediate Life Support Provider
* Qualification in Emergency management
* Recognised HDU qualification
Experience
* 1 year recovery/HDU experience
* Experience of resource management
* Experience of clinical supervision
* Experience working within a Maternity setting
* Experience of analysing detailed information
* Experience of audit/research based nursing practice
Skills & Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues
* Ability to use and understand Electronic Patient Records (EPR) and good computer skills
* Understanding of Recovery HDU care
* Ability to identify patient and staff diversity
* Ability to administer prescribed medication and blood transfusion as required
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
* Strong leadership and team working skills
* Ability to adapt staffing to changing patient need
* Ability to work unsupervised
* Ability to motivate self and others
* Ability to actively participate in and develop initiatives from the NHS Plan
* Awareness of government led and professional issues relating to nursing/patient care
* Ability to interpret and analyse data and findings
* Demonstrate an awareness of clinical governance and risk management and how this affects their role and the department
* Knowledge of pregnancy and maternity care
