Role Overview
Lead the Allied Health Professionals (AHP) team within the inpatient mental health setting at Woodlands, Ipswich. Oversee the delivery of recovery‑focused interventions across two adult acute mental health wards, an older people ward and a psychiatric intensive care unit.
Experience with occupational therapy or physiotherapy, and a strong clinical and leadership profile, are essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support an established team comprising Occupational Therapists, a Band 7 Physiotherapist and support staff.
- Coordinate therapeutic timetables and allocate activity‑worker resources across the site.
- Provide line management supervision, including recruitment, development and coaching of staff.
- Deliver specialist clinical input across the service, supporting complex cases and working with adults and older people with organic, frailty and functional presentations.
- Collaborate with psychologists, art therapists and the multidisciplinary team to model and foster strong working relationships.
- Contribute to service and policy development, reporting on team governance and key performance indicators.
- Ensure high‑quality, responsive care for patients, families and carers in compliance with clinical standards.
Qualifications
- Qualified Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.
- Significant experience in an acute mental health setting.
- Demonstrated clinical and leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills and experience working with complex mental and physical health needs, including frailty and dementia.
