Job Title Apprentice Painter Decorator

Salary Range Apprentice Grade

Year 1 - 80% London Living Wage

Year 2 - 100% London Living Wage

Employment Type Full time, Fixed Term for 24 months until successful completion of apprenticeship

Location Frogmore, Dormay Street, London SW18 1EY

We have 2 x vacancies as an Apprentice Painter Decorator.

Objective of role

As an Apprentice Painter and Decorator, you will play a vital role in supporting the council\'s commitment to maintaining safe and comfortable living environments for residents across the borough. Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you will assist in the preparation, painting, and decorating of council-owned properties, both internally and externally.

This practical role offers a valuable opportunity to develop hands-on decorating skills while contributing to the wellbeing of the local community. You\'ll help ensure that surfaces such as walls, ceilings, doors, and woodwork are finished to a high standard, enhancing the overall appearance and condition of residential properties.

Your contribution will have a direct impact on residents\' comfort and pride in their homes, and you\'ll gain meaningful experience in public service delivery, attention to detail, and collaborative working, all within a structured and supportive apprenticeship programme.


Responsibilities

* Assist in the preparation, painting, and decorating of residential properties across the borough.
* Support qualified painters and decorators in identifying and resolving issues related to surface finishes and general presentation.
* Carry out routine inspections and basic decorating tasks under supervision.
* Learn and apply health and safety standards in all aspects of painting, decorating, and property maintenance work.
* Engage with residents professionally and respectfully while working in their homes.
* Record and report work completed using council systems and procedures.


Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

* A genuine interest in painting and decorating and property maintenance.
* Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced tradespeople.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
* Respect for confidentiality and professionalism when working in residents\' homes.
* Commitment to completing the apprenticeship programme, including attending training sessions and assessments.
