An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Band 6 Nurse Practitioner to join the Paediatric Pre-assessment team within the Royal Hospital for Children.
We are an outpatient, nurse-led, service that carries out a nursing and medical assessment of children and young people (CYP) requiring a procedure under general anaesthetic. We work collaboratively with input and support from a dedicated team of anaesthetists.
The successful candidate must be a registered paediatric nurse and hold a recognised clinical assessment and decision making qualification. They should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional development.
You would be expected to take patient history and perform a physical examination of the CYP. You will also prepare them and their family/carers for their procedure and refer any anaesthetic, medical or psychological issues to the appropriate discipline.
You will have the ability to prioritise your work load in a fast paced environment and possess sound clinical skills for the assessment of patient needs to ensure effective patient journey.
You will participate in audits and contribute to the planning, development and delivery of the service.
