Main duties of the job
As the Head of Communications, you will be responsible for shaping, managing and delivering the organisations internal and external communications, ensuring messaging is clear, consistent and compelling, and reflects CHP's purpose, vision and values.
You will lead the development and delivery of communications strategies and campaigns that strengthen CHP's brand, raising awareness of CHP's expertise and the LIFT portfolio as key enablers of neighbourhood health. This requires engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring communications support CHP's strategic priorities.
You will provide professional leadership for the communications function, providing strategic direction and oversight to plan, deliver and evaluate communications activity.
Reporting to, and working closely with, the Director of Corporate Services, you will contribute to enhancing the profile and effectiveness of the Communications, People and Culture function across the company, supporting and enabling a positive, healthy and inclusive culture at CHP.

Person Specification
Experience
* Extensive experience in a senior communications role, leading internal and external communications within a complex, matrix organisation.
* Proven experience of developing and delivering integrated communications strategies and campaigns aligned to organisational objectives.
* Experience managing organisational reputation, including proactive and reactive media handling.
* Experience of advising senior leaders and working effectively with them.
* Line management experience, with a demonstrable ability to lead, develop and motivate a team.
* Experience of engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including internal teams, partners, and external audiences.
* Proficiency in digital and social media platforms, analytics, and content management systems.
* Proven track record of developing and maintaining effective working relationships including across public and private sectors.
* Experience of managing external suppliers and contractors.
* Experience working within the NHS, public sector, estates, infrastructure, or other publicly funded organisations.
* Knowledge of private public partnerships, commercial and healthcare property development and estates, estate management.
* Political awareness and understanding of key policy drivers impacting our business.
* Experience communicating complex or technical information to nonspecialist audiences.
* Experience supporting organisational change, transformation programmes or capital investment projects.
* AI and its application in communications.
Qualifications
* Educated degree level or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
* Evidence of continual professional development.
* Membership of an appropriate professional association, e.g. CIPR, CIM etc.
