What do we want?
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Maintenance Operative – Painter to join our Property Team across Bedruthan and Scarlet. This is a hands-on role focused on painting, decorating and general maintenance, ensuring our guest rooms, apartments, spa and public areas are always presented to the highest standard. You will play a key role in both planned preventative maintenance and reactive works, responding promptly to guest and staff requests while maintaining safe, compliant and beautifully kept environments.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance across hotel, spa and guest areas
· Respond promptly and effectively to guest and staff maintenance requests
· Conduct daily inspections of public areas to proactively identify maintenance needs
· Complete painting and decorating to a high professional standard
· Undertake general maintenance including minor plumbing, woodwork, lock maintenance and equipment repairs
· Maintain mechanical and plant areas in a neat, safe and orderly condition
· Assist with refurbishment, remodelling and construction projects as required
· Ensure all hazards are reported immediately and health & safety standards are upheld
· Complete reports and work orders accurately
· Maintain rooms, apartments and guest-facing areas while ensuring minimal disruption
· Follow preventative maintenance programmes and update records accordingly
· Participate fully in team meetings and required training
· Work flexibly, including some weekends and emergency situations where required
Qualifications:
· One main trade qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2 or 3, City & Guilds or equivalent) – essential
· Proven experience in painting and decorating
· Previous experience in a maintenance role, ideally within hospitality or a similar environment
· Sound understanding of health & safety and compliance requirements
