Job Description
To be responsible for all design and technical aspects of projects ensuring delivery on budget and to programme. This includes effective management of external consultants and clear communication with the wider United Living team and business partners.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading technical and design processes, managing design teams and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Managing technical design schemes in accordance with programme, ensuring targets are met and design quality maximized.
3. Reviewing bids, undertaking technical appraisals, assessing design requirements, and preparing proposals.
4. Producing and managing project-specific design programmes and progress reports.
5. Overseeing procurement of designers and assessing their competency.
6. Monitoring and managing consultant and subcontractor fees and approvals.
7. Fulfilling CDM Principal Designer and Building Regulations Principal Design roles.
8. Ensuring design compliance with legislation, standards, and company policies.
9. Managing design coordination workshops, site visits, and project meetings.
10. Handling change management, document control, and liaising with authorities for approvals.
11. Ensuring health, safety, and environmental policies are followed.
Qualifications
Essential
* Strong leadership and management skills with a proactive approach.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
* Proven experience managing design and technical processes in residential construction.
* Up-to-date knowledge of construction legislation and industry standards.
* Valid driving license.
* High-rise development experience and understanding of building safety legislation.
Desirable
* Passion for construction excellence and customer satisfaction.
* Experience with CAD, Revit, and BIM.
* Membership in professional bodies like CIOB, CIAT, or RICS.
* Relevant architectural or technical qualifications.
