The Team

Northern Tasmanian Pathology Service (NTPS) provides Pathology services to Launceston General Hospital and the Northern regions of Tasmania. We are the only public pathology service operating in North Tasmania. NTPS aims to deliver a high-quality service to general practitioners, medical specialists and private hospitals, providing patients with no out of pocket expenses for Medicare eligible tests. The team at NTPS comprises a large team involving multi-disciplinary scientists, technicians, non-technical staff and Pathologists.


The Role

Coordinate technical staff and resources in the Central Specimen Area (CSA) of the Northern Tasmanian Pathology Service (NTPS).

Coordinate staff and resources involved in the Point of Care Testing (PoCT) devices covered by the NTPS.

* Assist in the day to day running and management of the CSA and/or POCT department
* Apply professional judgement and scientific knowledge towards performance, analysis and troubleshooting of standard CSA processes, whilst displaying a high level of leadership skills.
* Forge a close professional relationship with interdepartmental teams and be able to confidentially communicate information with requestors and clinical personnel seeking information on samples, results or test related information

Details of appointment

Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, from 01 December 2025 until 25 September 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.


Salary

$81,915 to $94,263 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

* Salary range is in accordance with Agreement (Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022).

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

* An associate Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, or an equivalent qualification, appropriate to the nature of the work.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

* At least 5 years experience in a supervisory capacity in a diagnostic laboratory.
