About The Role
The WMG SME Group are seeking to appoint a design‑led Technology Transfer Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team to assist in the delivery of our SME Programmes. This position will help manufacturing SMEs become more productive and competitive. The group aims to accelerate SME economic growth through research‑led innovation and builds strong sustainable and collaborative relationships with SME businesses and partner organisations.
You should be a degree‑level qualified candidate in a relevant subject with applied industrial experience. You should be skilled in carrying out the design and development of new products and making manufacturing recommendations before implementing them within the client environment. Good organisational and interpersonal skills are also required.
About You
The successful candidate will have a background in Product/Industrial Design and one or more of the following:
* Computer-aided design (CAD)
* Design for Manufacture including the manufacturing of polymer products
* Design for Assembly
* Mechanical design/engineering
* Experience of prototyping specifically Additive Manufacture
You Should Be Able To
* Communicate your expertise, knowledge and experience – from boardroom to technician
* Apply your knowledge to the development of new products, physical prototypes and manufacturing processes
* Make use of relevant technologies and computer software to support innovative design solutions
* Work on multiple concurrent projects with short timescales (typically 10‑15 days)
