Two Doctoral Candidate positions are available in the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie doctoral network “CUSTOM” (Customised Porous Structures and Advanced Testing for Orthopaedic Implants). The positions are funded for a three‑year fixed term starting September/October 2026 and are fully funded by the consortium.
Roles
* DC7: Development and Optimisation of Bioactive Glass Coatings on Titanium Implants
* DC8: Advanced Titanate Coatings for Porous Titanium Implants
Key Requirements
* Familiarity with bioactive glasses and thermal coating processes (DC7) or with producing and characterising titanate coatings (DC8)
* Background in Materials Engineering
* Ability to communicate and present research
* Proficient in English and able to collaborate extensively with industrial and academic partners
* Master’s degree in Materials Engineering or related field
Eligibility Criteria
* Early‑stage researcher (first four years of research career from completion of master’s)
* Transnational mobility: must not have resided or carried out main activity in the host country for more than 12 months in the 12 months preceding recruitment
* English language: sufficient written and spoken proficiency to participate fully in network training
