About The Role

🌟 Kickstart Your Career in Care as an Apprentice Support Worker at Low Laithes! 🌟

Are you passionate, positive and ready to make a real difference? At Low Laithes, we’re on the lookout for enthusiastic Apprentice Support Workers to join our friendly team and support adults with autism and learning disabilities. Alongside gaining hands-on experience, you'll also study for your Level 2 NVQ in Health & Social Care — giving you a solid foundation for a rewarding career in care.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Apprentice Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in helping people live more independent, dignified and fulfilling lives. No two days are the same! You could be:

• Supporting someone to grow their own garden

• Helping to prepare healthy meals

• Encouraging new skills and building confidence

• Bringing fresh ideas to help people achieve their goals

Support isn’t just provided at home — you also might spend time out in the community, doing activities that the people you support love, such as walks, cinema trips or seaside visits.

We’ve Got Your Back

Joining Low Laithes means joining a supportive, proactive team. You’ll always have someone to turn to — perfect if you're new to care. Our management team is hands-on and committed to helping you grow and feel confident in your role.

Training & Development

Your apprenticeship includes regular college-based learning along with practical, on-the-job training.

• 20% of your working hours spent studying

• Initial 2.5 weeks full-time training (Mon–Fri, 9:30–4:30)

• Ongoing training on site

• Learning at Barnsley College

Shift Patterns:

Rolling rota: 4 days on, 2 days off including 2 late shifts and 2 early shifts

Early shifts: 7:30am–2:45pm/1:45pm

Late shifts: 1:15pm–9:45pm

Plus one full weekend off every 6 weeks.
