Purpose: Operate machinery and assist with production line as needed. Responsible for housekeeping and safety in his/her work environment.
Key Accountabilities/Essential Functions:
1. Operate and maintain machinery.
1. Accurately record electronically or manually the actual usage of raw materials and chemicals used.
1. Assist in machine wash-ups, changes and daily machine cleaning after breaks or shutdowns including physical moving, bending and/or lifting during those procedures.
1. Assist in locating, transporting and handling of raw materials and/or chemicals, including opening and staging fiber.
1. Comply with all Lock-Out, Tag Out and Confined Space procedures.
1. Identify and immediately report any unsafe act, condition or potential hazard to Supervisor or responsible personnel.
1. Locate, transport by using a powered lift truck and track ordered raw materials and/or chemicals from inventory by lot or ID number for use in pulp and/or chemical formulations.
1. Accept direction from multiple sources of authority.
1. Prepare chemical formulations in accordance with written instructions.
1. Work in sequence using many components with high degree of accuracy.
1. Physically transport and handle chemicals and raw materials up to 50 pounds.
1. Climb catwalks, work around machinery with hot and slippery surfaces.
1. Observe conditions and quarantine if necessary any unacceptable or questionable raw materials and/or chemicals and communicate to supervisor as necessary.
1. Comply with safety rules and the worksite safety plan.
1. Comply with environmental guidelines, and federal and state-mandated RCRA waste handling and recycling procedures.
Education, Technical Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:
High school diploma
Basic Math skills
Read and write English
3 months - 1 year work experience in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
* Must be able to work with work with minimal supervision.
* Must be able to upgrade job skills through participation in periodic training programs as available.
* Must be physically and mentally able to perform similar job functions in other areas.
* Must be computer literate.
* Understand and comply with environmental guidelines.
* Must be able to make minor repairs to equipment when instructed by supervision.
Physical Demands:
* Must be able to handle up to 50 lbs. and complete tasks that require difficult positioning.
* Must constantly be alert.
* Must be able to work in severely fluctuating temperatures.
* Vision tested minimum requirements is corrected to 20/40 far vision and 20/30 near vision.
* Exposure to dust, vibration, chemical, temperature variation and sharp cutting equipment.
* Protective equipment is required.
* Ability to work carefully around potentially dangerous machinery.
* Must be physically able to operate a lift truck.
* Perform other jobs as instructed by supervision.
Temporary assignments to alternate workstations may be required to meet production demand.
