About The Role
If you want to make a difference for people affected by dementia and their families, helping to give them a voice and protect their choices, then we’d love to hear from you!
A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal tool that lets the person with dementia choose trusted individuals to make decisions for them during times of need, such as temporary hospital stays or long-term health and care decisions.
As a Lasting Power of Attorney Volunteer, you will help simplify a complex administrative process for people affected by dementia and their families, ensuring they can plan for their future. The role involves two main activities: making introduction calls and/or appointment calls.
Introduction calls – Contact referred individuals to explain the service, gather necessary information, answer questions (not legal advice), and book appointments. These sessions last approximately 4 hours.
Appointment calls – Use the Office of the Public Guardian online tool to assist service users over the phone in completing their Lasting Power of Attorney application. Each call lasts about 1 hour, with sessions of approximately 4 hours.
You can choose to do either activity or both. Commitment to a minimum of 4 consecutive hours per session on the same day is required.
