Maintenance Person / Caretaker (Bank – Cover for Sickness & Holidays)

We are looking to recruit a reliable and skilled Maintenance Person / Caretaker on a bank basis to provide essential cover during periods of staff sickness, annual leave, and other absences. This is a flexible role, offering work as and when required to help ensure our facilities continue to operate smoothly.
About the Role
As a Bank Maintenance Person / Caretaker, you will play a key role in maintaining the hospice's buildings, grounds, and equipment to a high standard while providing responsive cover when needed. You will carry out a variety of tasks including routine maintenance, minor repairs, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out general maintenance and repair tasks across the hospice.
* Perform routine inspections to identify and address maintenance issues.
* Ensure all equipment and facilities are safe and in good working order.
* Respond flexibly to cover requirements for sickness and holidays.
* Work closely with other departments to support their maintenance needs.
* Liaise with external contractors when necessary.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and inspections.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and hospice policies.
* Assist in emergency maintenance situations as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Proven experience in a maintenance, caretaker, handyman, or facilities role.
* A good working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance tasks.
* The ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities at short notice.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
* A flexible and proactive approach to work.
