Overview
Engineer – Systems Performance & Integration role at Transport for London. This is a permanent position based in Stratford with hybrid working options.
Responsibilities
* Analyse and visualise complex data, draw conclusions and produce reports.
* Interpret railway signalling and/or layout and/or infrastructure scheme design and process; perform systems modelling using specialised tools in Windows and Linux/Unix environments.
* Provide expertise, support, and guidance to projects to identify and resolve performance and capacity issues through modelling and analysis.
* Help reduce costs by optimising capital investment, scope, asset utilisation, system design, journey time and energy consumption; enhance system capacity and reliability by identifying and addressing constraints and failure points.
* Build stakeholder confidence by verifying and validating system designs and integrating railway sub-systems to achieve the desired performance outcomes.
* Assess and monitor the customer environment to inform system technical solutions and support continuous improvement through best practices, innovation, whole life cost optimisation and root cause analysis.
* Work across the project lifecycle (feasibility, concept, detailed design, installation, commissioning and maintenance) applying System Performance knowledge and skills.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Engineering, Science, Computing, or a related field.
* Minimum 2 years of engineering experience (essential).
* Railway experience in at least one of the following disciplines: Systems Performance, Power, Systems, Signalling.
* Ability to build effective relationships and communicate ideas succinctly to engineers and non-engineering stakeholders; represent TfL’s interests with external parties.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Good analytical and data analysis skills (essential).
* Modelling and coding skills (basic level and above).
* Experience analysing data with spreadsheets (Excel or equivalent).
* Strong written communication for technical reports and documentation.
* Time and quality management, with familiarity of verification and validation activities and standard processes.
Location and Rewards
Location: Stratford / Hybrid (50% office, 50% home over a 4-week period; may evolve with business needs).
