Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
You will play a hands-on role in attending machine breakdowns, performing planned and preventative maintenance, maintaining site utilities, and leading zero loss initiatives to reduce utilities usage and improve reliability.
* Deliver the Engineering departments vision and strategic plan.
* Attend to machine breakdowns and carry out reactive repairs promptly.
* Perform planned and preventative maintenance activities across production equipment and site services.
* Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality procedures (including LOTO, PUWER, COSHH).
* Assist in organizing and executing shutdown work, inspections, and capital projects in partnership with Central Engineering.
* Apply Lean principles (TPM, RCM, RCA, PDCA, 5S, 5-Why) to drive continuous improvement and performance enhancements.
* Populate the Planned Maintenance System (SAP PM) and support development of SOPs and training materials.
* Take ownership of site reliability performance, identifying opportunities to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
* Manage contractors effectively and support cross-functional teams with technical guidance.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Practical engineering/technical experience with a proven track record in maintenance delivery.
* Strong multi-skilled background, ideally with an electrical bias.
* Knowledge of site utilities and experience managing contractors.
* Experience applying continuous improvement programs and Lean principles.
* Minimum NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering discipline.
* Understanding of Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental aspects, including Food Safety.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with IT literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Ability to work independently, take ownership, and support a culture of continuous improvement.
Desirable Skills:
* HNC in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Multi-disciplined capability in mechanical, electrical, controls, automation, or software engineering.
* IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
* SAP PM experience.
* Previous experience in FMCG, food, beverage, or manufacturing environments.
* TPM practitioner experience.
* Experience training and coaching others.
