Developing Healthy Communities are delighted to bring the innovative community currency Civic Dollars to the Derry and Strabane District Council area. Funded by Innovation UK this project is a place-based health equity programme, designed to improve the health outcomes of adults aged 40 to 65 at risk of diabetes and pre-diabetes. The project will target people living in some of the most disadvantaged communities within the DCSDC area.Using an innovative, rewards-based system, participants will earn ‘Civic Dollars’ by walking, cycling, or taking part in community-based physical activity sessions. These digital tokens can be redeemed with participating local businesses, fostering healthy lifestyle habits whilst simultaneously generating economic benefits to local businesses Civic Dollars - The Community Currency - Improving your health has never been more rewarding.Overall Purpose of the Job;The Project Assistant will support the successful delivery of the Innovate UK-funded project in Derry City by providing high-quality administrative, organisational, and community engagement support. Working closely with the Project Co-ordinator, Health Development Researcher, and wider project team, the post holder will assist in coordinating activities, liaising with participants, maintaining project records, and ensuring timely reporting to funders and stakeholders.Main Responsibilities;Project Support.Administration.Maintain and update project databases and filing systems.Support compliance with project policies, funder requirements, and data protection regulations.Community Engagement;Act as a first point of contact for participants and stakeholders, responding to enquiries in a professional and timely manner.Assist in distributing promotional materials and communications.Support outreach to community groups and partners to encourage participation in project activities.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Project Co-ordinator with day-to-day operations, ensuring activities run smoothly and to schedule.
* Support the organisation of events, workshops, and community activities related to the project.
* Help maintain accurate project records, monitoring data, and participant information.
* Assist with the collection and collation of information for reports and presentations.
* Provide administrative support including scheduling meetings, taking minutes, preparing documents, and handling correspondence.Maintain and update project databases and filing systems.
* Act as a first point of contact for participants and stakeholders, responding to enquiries in a professional and timely manner.Assist in distributing promotional materials and communications.Support outreach to community groups and partners.
Skills and Qualifications
* At least 1 year’s experience in an administrative, project support, or community engagement role.Experience of working in a health, wellbeing, or community development setting.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
* Good IT skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team.
* Commitment to community-led health and wellbeing initiatives.
* Qualification in administration, community development, or related field.Experience with event coordination.Familiarity with project management software or databases.
* Experience working on funded projects.
