The Opportunity

This role is very varied, and you’ll be working with a wide range of D/deaf students using the full range of communication methods. There are ad-hoc events to get involved with throughout the year, such as open evenings and work placements and promoting Deaf Awareness Week to DCG colleagues.


About You

To excel in this role, you’ll be a people person who enjoys working with a range of people and building rapport quickly. You’ll be joining a supportive, friendly team of CSWs who will encourage you to develop your communication & professional skills.

You’ll be qualified to Level 2 or above in BSL and have knowledge of the Equality Act 2010.


Responsibilities

* Provide communication support to Deaf students within the College and local community.
* Be part of the Deaf Access Team, which includes experienced Communication Support Workers and Sign Language Interpreters who provide communication support to Deaf students within the College and the local community.
* Contribute to the operation of the college's communication support agency, providing services to Deaf people in Derby and the surrounding areas.
* Work with a wide range of D/deaf students using the full range of communication methods.
* Participate in ad-hoc events throughout the year (e.g., open evenings, work placements) and promote Deaf Awareness Week to DCG colleagues.
