What you will be doing
We are seeking a qualified Field Service Engineer to join our team at our UK operations hub.
Reporting to the Field Services Area Manager, you will support on-site installation, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance of airport security systems at our client sites.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform technical support activities including installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and servicing x-ray and CT-based security systems at customer sites, often handling complex products and problems. Provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians. Develop and maintain relationships with clients such as BAA and major UK airports. Ensure client satisfaction through the delivery of top-tier security and detection products and services. Duties may evolve over time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Coordinate preventative maintenance services on security equipment for regional customers.
* Support installation, calibration, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of complex security systems.
* Conduct training for customer personnel on system operation and maintenance, including on-site technical and operator training.
* Identify operational or technical issues via phone or on-site, responding to customer inquiries until resolution.
* Troubleshoot system interface problems during installations.
* Educate customer personnel on equipment capabilities and modifications.
* Visit customer sites to assess needs and perceptions.
* Proficient in Siebel and complete administrative tasks by deadlines.
Education and/or Experience:
* Technical school graduate or military training in electronics engineering technology preferred.
* Experience in a field service environment within relevant industries.
* Strong knowledge of x-ray, CT technologies, and related products.
Other Skills and Abilities:
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Knowledge of digital and analog circuitry; Linux knowledge is a plus.
* Familiarity with mechanical systems, test equipment, high voltage, and X-ray equipment.
* Ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and travel across the UK on short notice.
* Willingness to work non-standard hours, including weekends, and lift heavy weights if necessary.
* Previous experience in security and detection systems, aviation, or global operations preferred.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a high standard of work and be a team player.
* Based in the North of the UK, supporting global business.
