We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Engineer to support our client's regional Development Team in Hertford, focusing on civil engineering for development infrastructure. You will work within a team supporting the production of designs and drawings for construction projects and technical reports for master planning in support of planning applications. You will report to a senior member of the Development Team.

The role
* Providing day-to-day support in the delivery of concept studies / strategies with hands-on design, leading to planning applications, technical approval submissions, and construction drawing issue.
* Contributing to all types of development projects across sectors and clients.
* Managing multiple varied multi-disciplinary project/client accounts simultaneously.
* Supporting and guiding a team of experienced and developing technical staff.
* Engaging in high-profile client interactions, stakeholder management, design team liaison (internal and external), and project management.
* Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet technical standards and legal requirements, depending on experience.
What you need to succeed
* Experience in highway design, drainage strategy, flood risk assessment, utility design, and planning within the development industry.
* Knowledge of legal processes, planning, design software, technical consents, and procedures related to sewers, SuDS, highways, and utilities for development projects.
* Understanding of financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding, and project delivery.
* Postgraduate experience or nearing Chartership, with relevant commercial experience and responsibility.
* Knowledge of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics, and building structures, along with construction design stages.
* Ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations, and drawings.
* Familiarity with relevant design codes such as Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, and Local Authority Design Guidance.
* Awareness of current and emerging guidance on climate change and sustainability.
* Proficiency in relevant software like InfoDrainage, Civils 3D, and/or PDS.
* Experience liaising with clients, professionals, authorities, and negotiating technical approvals and agreements.
