British Gas Business (BGB) is the leading provider of energy to SMEs in the UK and is focused on helping its customers use energy simply, sustainably, and affordably. We are looking for a strategic and experienced Senior Metering Partnership Manager to lead our team of colleagues and partners through a period of significant change; where said partners will be critical in supporting BGB deliver excellent commercial and compliance outcomes.

In the diverse world of energy and metering, we strive to make things simple, creating a straightforward and hassle-free experience for our customers. Energising a greener, fairer future via the implementation and maintenance of a robust and resilient metering network and delivery of accurate bills to customers. In BGB we leverage the support of several strategic partners to achieve these goals and the role holder we be responsible for these relationships.

Location - Any UK site with flexible home working

Key Accountabilities of the role

1. Strategic Leadership: Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Metering Relationship Management team, ensuring alignment with BGB's overall business goals and objectives; seeking opportunities to drive additional value where possible.
2. Partnership Management: Oversee and enhance relationships with meter operators, meter asset managers, and metering data services partners to ensure exceptional performance and innovation.
3. Governance and Compliance: Lead the development and maintenance of comprehensive governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, internal policies, and commercial frameworks.
4. Performance Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise third-party performance, data quality, and service delivery.
5. Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with third-party service delivery, ensuring robust contingency plans are in place.
6. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for executive-level stakeholders, both internally and externally, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
7. Contract Negotiation and Management: Lead contract negotiations and manage third-party agreements to ensure mutually beneficial terms and conditions, ensuring there is strong sustainable partnerships to allow BGB to achieve its commercial goals.
8. Innovation and Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation, identifying and implementing new technologies and processes to enhance metering services and customer experience.
9. Financial Oversight: Manage budgets and financial performance related to metering services, ensuring cost-effective operations and value for money.
10. Team Development: Mentor and develop the Metering Relationship Management team, promoting a high-performance culture, commercial excellence and continuous professional growth.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

11. Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the utilities industry, with a strong focus on metering and data services.
12. Exceptional stakeholder influencing and management skills at all levels.
13. Ability to understand and translate complex technical details into clear, actionable strategies.
14. Strong understanding of operational and industry processes, with the ability to drive performance improvement initiatives.
15. Experience in developing and maintaining comprehensive governance frameworks in a regulated environment.
16. Capability to manage third-party commercial agreements and leverage them for performance optimisation.
17. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
