Are you ready to lead capital transformation at one of the UK’s largest healthcare providers?

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) delivers hospital and community healthcare across Salford, Oldham, Bury and Rochdale, serving a population of over 1 million people. With 20,000 staff, we operate one of the NHS’s largest and most ambitious capital investment programmes.

As part of an expansion programme we are now looking for a strategic and people-focused leader to join our Capital team as Deputy Head of Capital. If you’re passionate about coaching and empowering high-performing teams while overseeing complex infrastructure programmes, this is your opportunity to make a measurable difference.

As Deputy Head, you’ll take responsibility for leading programme and project managers working across our four major Care Organisations. You’ll embed robust governance, ensure quality assurance across RIBA stages, and align delivery to strategic capital goals. This is more than a technical role—it's about instilling consistency, clarity and purpose in a fast-paced delivery environment.

What You’ll Do:

* Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to a multi-site capital delivery team
* Drive programme delivery through RIBA 1–7 with clear reporting and assurance controls
* Develop high-quality business cases and oversee capital investment performance
* Manage stakeholder engagement with internal teams, regulators, and suppliers
* Ensure all works meet NHS healthcare estate standards (HTM/HBN/CDM)
* Lead capital works including complex refurbishments and new build developments

About You:

We’re looking for a confident and collaborative leader who can operate at pace in a highly regulated environment. You’ll need:

* A degree or postgraduate qualification in estates, construction, or a related discipline
* Proven experience managing large-scale refurbishment and new-build programmes within healthcare or complex public/private sector settings
* Knowledge of healthcare infrastructure standards (HTMs, HBNs, CDM) and building regulations.
* Ability to mentor others, navigate governance frameworks, and translate strategy into outcomes

Bonus Points:

* Chartered status (e.g. MRICS, MCIOB, MAPM)
* Familiarity with public sector procurement and capital planning frameworks

Why Join NCA?

This is a chance to lead one of the NHS’s most ambitious capital teams. You’ll gain exposure to complex, high-value projects while working in a values-led, collaborative, and development-focused environment. Our infrastructure investment strategy is critical to future care models—and we want you to be part of that journey.

Apply today and help shape the future of healthcare infrastructure across Greater Manchester. For an informal discussion, please contact our retained recruitment partner Jonathan Phillips at Seymour John Ltd on 07817 988490.

To apply please send your CV and a short cover letter indicating your interest in the role to Jonathan at jp@seymourjohn.com. Please mark the email subject “NCA Deputy Head of Capital”
