These roles are open to both those who are already badged as Government Social Researchers (GSR) working in government, and those who are not yet GSR badged and are external to government.

We have roles available across four locations: Croydon, London (Westminster), Manchester, and Sheffield, in the following business areas:
* Crime and Policing:
o Crime Analysis Unit (CAU)
o Police Analysis Unit (PAU)
o Drugs, Exploitation and Abuse Analysis Unit (DEAA)
* National Security:
o Homeland Security Analysis and Insight Unit (HSAI)
* Borders, Immigration and Citizenship:
o Protection and Enforcement Analysis and Insights Unit (PEAI)
o Data Excellence Capability Unit (DEC)
o Borders Analysis Unit (BA)
o Managed Migration Analysis Unit (MMA)
Applicants will be invited to interview and can state their role preferences based on the business area information provided in Annex A. Efforts will be made to match applicants to their preferred roles and locations, but appointments will be made on merit, and preferences cannot be guaranteed for all.
As an experienced social researcher—gained within government, academia, or research organizations—you will be skilled in designing and delivering research and evaluation, conducting primary data collection, secondary data analysis, and commissioning external expertise to generate insights for policy development.
You should be adept at deploying innovative methods, providing expert advice on research approaches, and balancing short-term evidence requests with your own long-term research agenda.
You will be a strong team player, willing to work flexibly across changing priorities while maintaining your core project delivery. Experience in team-based delivery and recognizing when different analytical skills are needed will be important.
Your ability to understand stakeholder requirements, interpret findings, and communicate results clearly to Ministers and senior policy and operational leads will be essential in providing actionable evidence.
