You will be working alongside other members of our ranger team to protect and monitor the shorebird nesting site at Long Nanny in Beadnell Bay. Beadnell Bay attracts thousands of visitors every summer who come to enjoy the long sandy beach, spectacular views, water sports and abundant wildlife. The Long Nanny is a nationally important nesting site for Arctic terns, little terns and ringed plover and the National Trust has been protecting this area since 1977. As one of our assistant rangers you’ll be based at the Long Nanny site and will undertake different tasks in shorebird conservation and visitor engagement. This will involve wildlife monitoring, various practical tasks, working alongside volunteers and engaging with visitors to strengthen people’s connections with the outdoors.As no two days are the same, the nature of the role means a flexible approach is crucial. You'll work across a 24-hour rota and will be required to work early mornings, evenings and regular night shifts.
