Charge Nurse
On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.
As part of this transformation, NSS and NES have joined to form Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long‑term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.
About The Organisation
PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS to accelerate national programmes, support staff with education and training, provide tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.
The Post
The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) is a major division within NHS National Services Scotland, playing a vital role in the health of the people of Scotland and internationally. The goal is to maintain the highest standards of patient care while remaining internationally competitive.
The Candidate
We are looking for a friendly, confident, dynamic and outgoing nurse for one of our Collection Teams based in Dundee. The successful candidate will:
* Have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
* Lead, manage and work within a team.
* Be self‑motivated, proactive and innovative, able to be flexible and react positively to ongoing changing demands and priorities.
* Undergo venepuncture and medical selection duties; knowledge of blood collection processes is advantageous.
* Maintain current NMC registration and evidence of ongoing professional development within the competencies framework.
* Be based in Dundee but willing to travel extensively throughout the region; flexible to work variable hours, including regular late evenings and weekends.
* Undergo a PVG scheme check; candidates who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years must provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Location and Working Pattern
The post will be at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee; Monday to Sunday, 30 hours per week. It is a condition of employment that the employee must live and remain a resident within the UK and have entitlement to work in the UK.
