Project Manager – Payments Implementations
Retail & E-commerce | Contract | £550-£600pd | Outside IR35
We are looking for a delivery-focused Project Manager with strong, recent payments implementation experience to support the modernisation of payments capabilities within a complex retail e-commerce environment.
This role is hands-on and execution-led, suited to a mid-senior Project Manager, not a programme-level or strategic transformation lead. Solid payments domain experience is essential and applicants must have clear, recent payments implementation experience.
You will be responsible for day-to-day planning, coordination, and delivery across multiple engineering teams working on payments implementations. The focus is on getting work delivered, managing dependencies, and keeping execution on track across internal teams and third-party payment providers.
Key Responsibilities
* Own and maintain delivery plans for payments implementation workstreams
* Coordinate execution across multiple agile engineering teams
* Manage dependencies across checkout, payments services, fraud, finance, and downstream systems
* Track progress against plan, proactively managing risks, issues, and blockers
* Work directly with PSPs, acquirers, and third-party vendors, including integration and certification activities
Essential Experience (Non-Negotiable)
* Proven experience as a Project Manager or Delivery Manager delivering payments implementations
* Strong understanding of end-to-end payment processing (authorisation, capture, settlement, reconciliation)
* Hands-on experience working with PSPs, acquirers, card schemes, and fraud vendors
* Knowledge of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards such as: PCI DSS, SCA, and PSD2
