Engineer Manager – Welfare Units
The Role
We are looking for an experienced welfare unit engineer to take ownership of the mechanical and electrical standards across our fleet. This is a hands-on role based mainly at our Sandtoft depot, with responsibility not only for maintaining and repairing welfare units, but also for leading, training, and supporting our field engineers to improve performance, consistency, and reliability.
This role is key to raising engineering standards across the business. You'll be expected to bring strong technical knowledge, practical leadership, and the confidence to guide others.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead mechanical and electrical repair, servicing, and fault-finding on welfare units
* Ensure that all units are fully operational and available for nationwide hire
* Support and mentor field engineers, providing technical guidance and hands-on training
* Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including Victron power systems and Webasto heating systems
* Service and maintain generators, batteries, inverters, heaters, lighting, pumps, and water systems
* Prepare units to a high standard for hire and inspect units on return
* Assist with complex breakdowns and occasional site-based repairs
* Help improve workshop processes, standards, and efficiency
* Ensure safety, compliance, and quality across all engineering work
* Maintain parts stock levels at various depot locations
* Complete job documentation accurately
What We're Looking For
* Strong mechanical and electrical engineering background
* Proven experience working on welfare units or similar equipment
* Good working knowledge of Victron systems (highly desirable)
* Experience with Webasto heating systems (highly desirable)
* Confident fault-finding and problem-solving skills
* Experience supporting or training other engineers
* Professional, organised, and quality-focused approach
* Full UK driving licence preferred
