Offer description

Department: Land Based Industries (Wigfield Farm)

Salary: £24,476 to £28,145 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent Full time 37 hours per week

Reference: REC2262 | Closing Date: Wednesday, 24th September 2025

The Opportunity

You will play a key role in supporting our students to develop the practical skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the landscaping and horticulture industry. Whether you are already an experienced educator or a skilled landscape gardener looking to take your first steps into teaching, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise and guide learners towards building rewarding careers.

You will deliver lessons that combine practical training with underpinning theory, ensuring our students are confident in applying professional techniques and working to industry standards. Based at Wigfield Farm, you will make use of dedicated workshop spaces and specialist facilities to provide hands-on demonstrations and structured learning opportunities. From teaching solid wall structures, paving and block paving, to fencing, pergolas and decking, you will help students develop a wide range of landscaping skills.

Your role will also involve preparing materials, assessing learner progress, and providing constructive feedback that supports achievement and growth. You will contribute to creating a safe, well-organised learning environment where students can access the tools and resources they need to succeed. Alongside classroom and workshop delivery, you will also provide one-to-one support, oversee independent learning areas, and assist with induction and health and safety instruction.

This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact on learners, helping them to gain confidence, build technical ability, and prepare for a future in landscaping and related industries.

About You

For this role, you will need to be practical, knowledgeable, and able to inspire our learners to develop their landscaping skills with confidence. You should bring strong hands-on experience in landscaping, whether through working as a landscape gardener, in grounds maintenance, or in another related trade. Experience in techniques such as walling, paving, fencing, and decking will be particularly valuable.

It would be an advantage if you already have experience of teaching, training, or mentoring others, but this is not essential if you can demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt your approach to working with students. What matters most is your ability to communicate clearly, demonstrate skills effectively, and provide supportive feedback that helps learners progress.

You will need to be organised and resourceful, capable of preparing lessons, selecting appropriate materials, and ensuring students have access to the tools they need. A commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety, especially in workshop and outdoor settings, is essential.

Above all, you should be approachable, patient, and motivated to share your expertise with others. If you have a passion for landscaping and a genuine interest in helping our learners achieve their career goals, this could be a good opportunity for you.
