Are you an experienced Fabricator with a passion for training and mentoring the next generation of skilled engineers? Do you have a background in engineering and a desire to work closely with local military regiments to provide tailored learning experiences? Join us at Pearson TQ as a Coach for Engineering Operative Fabricators and play a pivotal role in shaping the careers of apprentices while supporting the needs of local military regiments.
This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality apprenticeship training in fabrication skills and foster positive relationships with local military units. You will guide apprentices through their learning journey, helping them develop essential skills for success in engineering.
What You’ll Do
1. Deliver Tailored Fabrication Training: Lead and manage training sessions for apprentices, ensuring they develop essential fabrication skills, knowledge, and behaviors.
2. Support Local Regiments: Work closely with military regiments to meet their specific needs in both civilian and military engineering contexts.
3. Provide Coaching and Mentorship: Offer personalized support, guidance, and constructive feedback to apprentices.
4. Regular Site Visits: Conduct workplace visits, virtually or on-site, to assess progress and ensure standards are met.
5. Assess and Review Progress: Carry out assessments and reviews to ensure apprentices meet required standards within timelines.
6. Embrace Technology: Utilize digital tools to facilitate learning, track progress, and maintain records.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct Apprenticeship Assessments: Determine apprentices' starting points and tailor training accordingly.
2. Provide Mentorship & Feedback: Support apprentices with regular coaching and feedback.
3. Workplace Engagement: Build relationships with local regiments and stakeholders to support apprentices.
4. Record Maintenance: Keep accurate records of apprentice progress using MIS systems and e-portfolios.
5. Monitor & Report Progress: Track progress towards targets and report to the Programme Manager.
6. Quality Assurance: Ensure training and assessments meet quality standards and frameworks.
What We’re Looking For
* Fabrication Expertise: Strong background in fabrication and engineering processes.
* Relevant Qualifications: Teaching or assessor qualification (or willingness to obtain one).
* Military Engagement: Willingness to work with military regiments and understand their needs.
* Coaching & Mentoring Skills: Experience in training and motivating apprentices.
* Proficiency in Digital Tools: Comfortable with online learning platforms and digital records.
* Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to give motivating feedback and communicate effectively.
* Adaptable and Flexible: Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Desirable Attributes
* Experience in Ofsted Inspections: Knowledge of inspection processes for apprenticeship training.
* ESFA Funding Knowledge: Understanding of funding mechanisms affecting apprenticeships.
* Target-Oriented: Proven ability to meet performance targets and deadlines.
