Ruthin School is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our busy catering team. The successful candidate will support the preparation and serving of food for students, staff and visitors, maintaining high standards of service and hygiene. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, supporting the preparation, presentation and service of food in the school cafe, dining hall and at offsite events.

Key Responsibilities :
Assist with food preparation, cooking, and service in the café, dining hall, and during events.
Ensure food is presented to a high standard and served efficiently.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen, servery, and dining areas.
Wash up, clear away, and leave the kitchen secure at the end of shifts. Check and store deliveries safely, following stock control and temperature procedures.
Adhere to all health, safety, and food hygiene standards (including HACCP records).
Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
Assist with hospitality catering for school functions.
Operate dishwashing equipment safely and maintain equipment and stock levels. Support colleagues and work collaboratively to ensure smooth operations.
Undertake training and professional development as required. Person Specification Essential: A strong team player with excellent customer service skills.
Willingness to learn and commitment to maintaining high hygiene and safety standards.
Flexibility to work some weekends and during school events.
Desirable:
Previous catering experience. Food Safety & Hygiene certification (training can be provided).
Full driving licence
