Casual Cleaner (Seasonal: End of January) Aberdeen Performing Arts (His Majesty’s Theatre, the Music Hall and The Lemon Tree) Closing Date: Sunday 12th October About Us Aberdeen Performing Arts is home to His Majesty’s Theatre, the Music Hall, and The Lemon Tree; three iconic venues that bring the best of live performance to the North-east. From dazzling concerts to unforgettable shows, our venues come alive each year with our famous Panto Season, one of the busiest and most magical times on our calendar. The Role We’re looking for casual cleaners to join our team on a seasonal basis until the end of January. This is a physically demanding, hands-on role that requires energy, stamina and a strong work ethic, especially during our legendary panto season when our venues are at their busiest. You’ll play a vital part in keeping our theatres spotless and welcoming for audiences, artists and employees. Availability Seasonal role to the end of January Casual Contract (shifts allocated as required based on availability) Ideally available for 3–4 shifts per week Morning starts from 8am Weekend availability is essential Main Responsibilities Carry out thorough daily cleaning across all public, backstage, and staff areas of our venues, including toilets, bars, offices, dressing rooms, corridors, and foyers. Empty and reline bins, collecting and removing waste from all areas (sometimes heavy loads). Vacuum, mop, scrub and polish floors, including use of cleaning machinery such as carpet cleaners and floor polishers. Wipe down and sanitise all surfaces, fixtures, and fittings including doors, glass, mirrors, brass plates, skirting boards, ledges and handrails. Regularly deep clean high-use areas during our busy panto season - toilets, staircases, foyers and bars must be kept spotless for large audiences. Clean and restock toilet facilities with consumables (toilet roll, soap, paper towels). Wash down and polish windows, mirrors and glass panels so they are streak-free and sparkling. Lift and carry cleaning equipment, stock and full refuse sacks safely. Report any damage, breakages or repairs needed to the Housekeeper/Operations Manager promptly. Work quickly and efficiently to tight turnaround times - for example, flipping spaces between morning cleans and show-ready standards before audiences arrive.
