Job title: Family Support Worker Place of work: Garnant Family Centre Dimensions of the job Working with other members of the project staff, volunteers, workers from other agencies, and family centre users. The family support play worker will, as part of the family centre team, plan, organise, support and develop activities for pre-school children and their families in accordance with the framework for practice. To assist with monitoring and evaluation of the family centre service. Main purpose of the job: * To provide a safe, stimulating environment for children. * To assist with planning and delivery of organised play activities for children and their families. * To assist with monitoring and evaluation of the family centre service. * To provide outreach into the community, making contact with isolated families and provide ways in which these families can be brought into and be involved in the family centre. Key tasks of job * To provide a warm and safe environment for children and their families. * To provide children’s activities that will enhance their lives socially, intellectually, emotionally and physically. * To provide activities to enable support to families relating to various issues * To work alongside centre volunteers. * To provide outreach to isolated families in the community and devise ways of encouraging families to attend the family centre. * To be responsible for the planning of programmes, in liaison with the Coordinator. * To take care of the play equipment and ensure that it complies with Health and Safety regulations. * In conjunction with the co-ordinator, to be responsible for Health and Safety matters within group activities, whilst inside/outside the centre. * To ensure that the centre can provide the following working conditions: An attractive, warm and well-equipped playroom; An area to have craft activities; A toilet and kitchen area that can be used. Qualifications and experience * Relevant qualification in childcare, NVQ/QCF Level 3 (or equivalent) and experience of working with children and families. * A basic knowledge of First Aid and a Food Hygiene Certificate will be desirable or a willingness to attend a course. * The ability to speak Welsh will be an advantage for this post.
