You will provide interventions as part of Talking Therapies, including a range of therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Qualifications & Professional Requirements
* Professional qualification such as Dip SW, RMN, O.T., Teacher, or Qualified Accredited Counsellor / Therapist at Level 5
* Training in a psychological or psychosocial intervention
* Understanding of common mental health problems, their impact on social functioning and physical health
* Understanding of at least one brief psychological and/or psychosocial intervention and the development of positive mental health
* Experience working with people experiencing depression and anxiety

* Commitment to the recovery model of mental health and to service user and carer involvement
* Holistic approach and ability to work with partners to address client needs
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Good organisational skills and ability to work autonomously
* Knowledge and understanding of the recovery approach to mental health
* Ability to engage people who have experienced a range of mental disorders
* Ability to challenge inequality and oppressive practice
* Basic Microsoft Office IT skills
* Ability to work in a time‑limited model that encourages focused intervention and disengagement
Person Specification
* Must have an ability to visit a variety of sites within South Tyneside
* Experience of working in community settings with people experiencing a range of mental health difficulties
* Desirable: Experience of working in statutory and voluntary mental health services
Job Responsibilities
* Provide medium‑level interventions including Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to adults with common mental health problems in primary care
* Use traditional and innovative treatment methods
* Work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary, and commit to equal opportunities
* Meet national and local targets for access, recovery, and waiting times
* Uphold the Trust vision, values and behavioural compact
* Consult and supervise with primary care colleagues
