The Tutor will:
1. Coordinate and ensure the delivery of high-quality robotic surgical education and training within University Hospitals Sussex
2. Maintain CPD in robotic surgery
3. Maintain CPD in education, for example through educational appraisal
4. Develop and run a local robotic training program and associated teaching resources
5. Work with the manufacturers and representatives of surgical robotic companies to incorporate them into training
6. Develop links with local universities if appropriate to develop joint training programmes
7. Liaise with surgical tutors to enable robotic training and education
8. Promote trainee engagement in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement
9. Encourage research, critical appraisal, and presentation opportunities
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will teach and develop resident doctors and consultant colleagues in all relevant specialties including general surgery, urology, ENT, gynae-oncology and paediatric surgery within the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Princess Royal Hospital, Worthing General Hospital and St Richard’s Hospital. They are responsible for keeping up to date with Deanery standards in education and training, assessments, and curriculum changes across relevant specialties.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Educational Lead for Robotic Surgery will:
10. Work with PGME and Leads for Education
11. Liaise with LFG leads in relevant surgical specialties
12. Assist as needed with the training of allied health professionals eg theatre staff simulation training for robotic surgical emergencies
13. Cover all UHSussex sites and all surgical specialties wtih an interest in robotic surgery

14. Be a Fellow, Member or Affiliate Member of an appropriate Royal College or Society within the Surgical affiliated specialties and a local Consultant within an appropriate speciality
15. Current clinical practice including regular performance of robotically-assisted surgery
16. Enthusiasm for delivery of education
17. Active involvement in education and training issues
18. Excellent organisational skills
19. Excellent communication, counselling and liaison skills
20. Problem solving abilities and a flexible, practical approach.

21. Experience as a clinical and educational supervisor.
