Knowlton and Newman, part of the Rubix Group, provide 24/7 engineering services. We repair, overhaul, install, and maintain pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, hydraulic equipment and cover a wide range of industrial equipment for customers across multiple sectors.
The Technician role is a multi-skilled position, responsible for the installation, assembly, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of industrial systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
* Analyse job cards and work instructions to determine scope, status, limitations, and requirements.
* Inspect, test, assemble, and commission industrial equipment to ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal standards.
* Carry out fault diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
* Record work undertaken, parts used, and time spent, ensuring accurate completion of job documentation.
* Operate workshop and site equipment safely, in line with training and company procedures.
* Liaise with customers, colleagues, and management to provide updates and technical support.
* Ensure all work is completed to the required quality and delivered on time.
* Promote and uphold company values, focusing on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
* Precision machining of components, including turning, milling, and boring.
Key Skills / Qualifications
* Proven engineering/technical background in industrial maintenance.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
* Experience using hand tools, workshop machinery, and test equipment.
* Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with colleagues and customers.
* Flexible, with the ability to work both in the workshop and on customer sites.
Good to have Qualifications
* Recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent).
* Specialist training/certification where applicable (e.g., lifting, confined space, electrical testing).
* Valid UK driving licence preferred.
