We study the fundamental molecular, cellular, and physiological processes that underly normal and abnormal cardiovascular and metabolic function and we drive the translation of this strong basic science into advances in clinical practice to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The School occupies facilities across the Guy’s, St Thomas’ and Denmark Hill campuses of King’s College London and comprises over 65 academic groups, hosting 400 staff and 110 PhD students. About The RoleThe School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences (SCMMS) is inviting applicants for the role of Technician to join a dynamic team in the Diabetes and Obesity Theme at the Guy’s Campus. This role provides comprehensive operational and technical support within a laboratory environment, encompassing the maintenance of consumables, equipment, inventories, and service facilities, as well as participation in key operational rotas. The post holder will apply a broad range of technical skills, support Health & Safety compliance, contribute to sustainability initiatives, and deliver training and guidance to staff and students —including new-user training for specialist facilities. The position involves managing a varied workload, resolving routine and complex issues, management of essential resources, and ensuring effective communication across research teams to deliver high quality technical support. The role also includes engaging in professional development, building networks within King’s, and fostering an inclusive, safe, and efficient working environment. This is a full time post and you will be offered an indefinite contract. Technical staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. This entitlement, from the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, applies to Postdocs, Research Assistants, Research and Teaching Technicians, Teaching Fellows and AEP equivalent up to and including grade 7.
