Overview
STRABAG UK are seeking a highly motivated Health & Safety Advisor to join a high‑performing project team within the growing Build Sub‑Division. The role is site‑based at Radlett supporting a diverse portfolio of works including self‑delivery, civils, earthworks and roadworks. The project site is the former Radlett Aerodrome, where SEGRO Logistics Park Radlett will deliver a state‑of‑the‑art rail freight terminal and extensive warehouses over 600 acres of green space, shifting freight transportation from road to rail and contributing to a greener future. Construction is anticipated over the next three years, with community and environmental benefits such as biodiversity net gain, employment, training and integrated transport improvements.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of a high‑performing Health, Safety and Wellbeing culture across projects, including the STRABAG Better Together programme.
* Provide HSW advice and guidance to operational teams and supply chain partners.
* Support the planning and delivery of works to ensure risks are identified, assessed, and effectively controlled.
* Review and support the development of Safe Systems of Work, including RAMS, ensuring they are suitable and sufficient.
* Promote the reduction of risk through effective planning and implementation of controls.
* Monitor site activities and undertake inspections, audits, and assurance activities, producing clear reports and supporting timely close‑out of actions.
* Support delivery teams in planning and carrying out assurance activities.
* Support incident reporting and investigations, identifying root causes and ensuring effective implementation of corrective actions.
* Develop HSW documentation, including toolbox talks, briefings, investigation reports, and improvement campaigns.
* Support the management of HSW data, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of incidents, observations, inspections, and performance metrics.
* Analyse data and trends to identify risks and opportunities, supporting continuous improvement.
* Engage with the workforce and supervision to promote a positive HSW culture, encouraging feedback and escalating issues where required.
* Challenge unsafe behaviours constructively and promote high standards of HSW performance.
* Support the delivery of training, briefings, and occupational health and wellbeing initiatives.
* Build effective working relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
* Work with the HSW team and wider organisation to share learning and promote best practice.
* Escalate key HSW risks and issues to management as appropriate.
* Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of HSW systems, procedures, and standards.
* Maintain professional competence, including relevant qualifications and professional membership.
* Ability to meet the requirements of site‑based working.
Qualifications
* Health and Safety Degree/Diploma Qualification or experience equivalent with supporting HSW Qualification applicable to the UK (e.g., NEBOSH Construction Certificate).
* Experience in construction.
* Membership of IOSH.
* Accident Investigation training.
* Good knowledge of applicable UK regulatory and industry standards.
* Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Good communication, data analytics and presentation skills.
* Qualification and knowledge of fire risk management in construction (desired).
* Experience/Knowledge and interest in HSW technology, digitalisation and AI implementation and development (desired).
