Are you passionate about making a difference in flood risk management and climate change adaptation? Peterborough City Council is seeking a dynamic and innovative Principal Flood Risk Officer to lead our efforts in safeguarding the community against flood risks and ensuring sustainable water management.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Local Flood Authority Duties: Coordinate and manage statutory duties under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, Highways Act 1980, and related regulations.
Planning Application Consultations: Oversee responses to planning applications for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and surface water flood risk.
Strategy Development: Prepare local strategies and policies on water, flood, and climate change adaptation.
Liaison Role: Act as the key interface between the council and external partners in the private and public sectors.
Collaborative Projects: Work alongside the Flood Risk Team, Highway Development team and external partners on innovative SuDS applications for new developments and historic areas.
