Job Title: Production Engineering Lead
Salary: £50kDepartmen Working Hours
Office Hours: Monday-Thursday 08:30-17:00 and Friday 08:30-14:00
The Production Engineering Lead is responsible for the Production Engineering team. The team ensures implementation of production processes and procedures, leads productivity improvements with project-based activities, including new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduce waste, improves quality and safety, performs statistical analysis on manufacturing data and reduces operating costs.
Responsibilities
The below list is not exhaustive, but the main duties and responsibilities will be:
* Support and mentor junior members of staff
* Lead and support NPD and NPI projects from design to manufacture
* Design jigs, fixtures and tooling for new and existing products
* EOL introduction and handover
* Creation and maintenance of all engineering documentation such as JWI’s, Risk Assessments, PFMEA’s etc.
* Ensure documentation is validated and audit ready at all times
* Lead and support improvement projects using LEAN deployment i.e., Six Sigma
* Create project reports, analyse and improve product efficiency and perform continuous improvement activities
* Contribute to the reduction of scrap or defected material
* Liaising with customers, managing expectations around projects and conducting regular reviews
* Statistical analysis of data from all areas of manufacture and test
* Analysis of emerging technologies and their potential impact/improvement on manufacturing (leading to industry 5.0)
Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours
The postholder will possess a range of the following knowledge, skills, and behaviours:
* Qualified to a minimum of HNC in an Engineering discipline
* Experience in leading a team
* Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
* Experience of new line set up and line balancing
* Management and maintenance of existing test equipment
* Strong background around process and continuous improvements
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Previous experience in managing projects and timelines
* Self-motivated, good time management and able to work autonomously, reporting to NPI and Technical Manager when required
* Computer literacy – including Office packages Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Knowledge of LabView and/or Solidworks would be beneficial
* Experience in a battery manufacturing facility would be beneficial
