As Director of Engineering, Finance Automation, you’ll be a key leader in one of Redwood’s fastest-growing product areas. You’ll shape the technical strategy, scale engineering operations, and lead multiple engineering teams building and evolving our SaaS-based Finance Automation solutions. This is a high-impact role, requiring strong technical depth, operational leadership, and a passion for delivering world-class enterprise software. Provide strategic and technical leadership for multiple engineering teams responsible for Redwood’s Finance Automation products and services. Define and drive the technical roadmap, ensuring architectural scalability, security, performance, and operational excellence. Collaborate closely with Product Management, Sales, Customer Success, and executive leadership to align engineering priorities with business goals. Oversee and improve engineering processes for Agile product development, continuous delivery, and cloud-native development. Foster a high-performance engineering culture grounded in accountability, continuous improvement, and customer-centric product thinking. Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers, architects, and technical leads — supporting career growth and succession planning. Make high-level technical and architectural decisions to support enterprise-grade SaaS delivery. Ensure systems and services meet the highest standards for security, reliability, observability, and operational excellence. Partner with stakeholders to manage team capacity, hiring, and resource allocation as Redwood’s product portfolio grows. Track and report on key engineering KPIs related to delivery velocity, product quality, and operational performance. YOUR EXPERIENCE Experience in progressive software engineering experience, with experience in senior engineering leadership roles (managing managers preferred). Proven success building and scaling enterprise SaaS products, ideally in finance, automation, or workflow orchestration domains. Strong technical background in backend software development (e.g., Java or similar languages), distributed systems, and RESTful APIs. Experience leading teams building cloud-native applications on platforms like AWS or Azure. Deep understanding of financial processes, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and compliance-driven workflows is a strong plus. Track record of leading Agile software development processes and cross-functional product delivery. Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with experience managing distributed, remote teams. Experience in operationalizing DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and continuous cloud delivery best practices. Nice to Have: Background in ERP automation, workload automation, financial process automation, or RPA technologies. Familiarity with accounting principles, financial regulations (SOX, GDPR), or financial data integrations. Experience integrating with ERP or financial management systems.
