This role in summary
This role is responsible for the statutory compliance, tax obligations, audit readiness, and balance sheet integrity of four legal entities across the UK and Ireland. While the Shared Services Centre (SSC) owns the monthly financial close, this role ensures that the outputs of the closing process are accurate, compliant, and fully understood by local stakeholders. The role also manages audits, corporate tax planning, and will lead the legal entity merger and business transfer process on behalf of Hotpoint UK.
Your responsibilities will include
* Hold full ownership and accountability for the balance sheets of four legal entities (3 UK, 1 Ireland), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data.
* Review and validate trial balances, and closing outputs provided by the SSC, including final ledger positions and reconciliations.
* Lead the quarterly balance sheet review process, working with account owners (SSC and UK finance teams)
* Prepare and submit statutory financial statements in line with FRS 101 and ensure full compliance with local filing requirements (Companies House, HMRC, CRO).
* Align statutory and group accounts, reconciling any reporting differences and supporting consistent reporting across legal entities.
* Coordinate closely with the SSC and local teams to ensure timely delivery and review of disclosures, supporting documentation, and final accounts.
* Lead the planning and execution of external and internal audits (statutory and group), serving as the primary contact for auditors with the SSC
* Prepare audit schedules, respond to information requests, and ensure completeness and accuracy of supporting documentation.
* Coordinate with SSC and local teams to close audit findings and ensure appropriate remediation of issues.
* Lead the accounting and compliance stream of the legal entity merger and business transfer process within the UK & Ireland scope on behalf of Whirlpool.
* Manage all finance-related responsibilities of the merger, including:
a) Balance sheet preparation and finalization
b) Ledger alignment
c) Intercompany settlement and clean-up
d) Legal and procedural compliance in collaboration with external legal advisors
Minimum requirements
* Minimum 3 years of experience in audit, reporting, statutory compliance
* Strong understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS, and UK & Irish tax frameworks
* Partly or fully qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA)
* Experience managing external audits and preparing statutory accounts
* Experience in audit preparation and statutory filing processes
Preferred skills and experiences
* Prior involvement in legal entity mergers or business restructures preferred
* Experience working with Shared Service Centers or outsourced finance operations
* Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
