Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Drainage Engineer to join our team to address the growing demand for sustainable drainage, coal tip remediation, and flood alleviation schemes in South Wales. You will work closely with ecologists, infrastructure, geotechnical and structural engineers in a multidisciplinary environment that supports community impact.
Team & Location
Working as part of the Infrastructure Drainage team, focused on the delivery of services to Rhondda Cynon Taff, Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Councils, you will support the new contract beginning in April 2025.
Responsibilities
* Oversee complex drainage schemes from conception through to delivery.
* Conduct quality assurance checks.
* Develop drainage solutions for highways, infrastructure, and site development schemes through feasibility, planning, tender, detailed design, and construction support.
* Design sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) following current standards and guidelines.
* Ensure health, safety and welfare of yourself and team members.
* Take responsibility for your own personal development and support the development of others.
Qualifications
* Relevant professional qualifications or working towards a professional qualification.
* Strong experience from feasibility to detailed design delivery and oversight compliant with SuDS, CDM2015, BIM, and local design specifications.
* Experience with Manual, Sewers for Adoptions, DMRB, Local Design Specifications, and construction support.
* Preparation and approval of contract documents and specifications.
* Clear evidence of successful delivery of projects or programmes meeting quality and commercial targets.
* Skilled in the use of Civil 3D, Causeway Flow, or Micro‑Drainage.
* Knowledge and understanding of the SAB process.
* Ability to discuss and review proposed solutions with contractors, clients and external bodies such as SAB, LLFA, Statutory Undertakers, EA, NRW, etc.
* Experience with construction support, survey supervision, and S19 reports; knowledge of S38/278 highway schemes and S104/106 drainage schemes.
