A leading medical research institution is seeking an experienced and creative Network Engineer to play a key role in supporting the IT infrastructure that underpins internationally recognised scientific research and teaching.
You'll join a skilled Systems and Networks team responsible for maintaining a complex server and network environment supporting over 6,000 users across a multi-site organisation. Lead the design, installation and ongoing management of the organisation's enterprise network infrastructure.
Develop network management tools and help modernise legacy systems with an eye on security, scalability, and performance.
Provide advanced administration across network and associated infrastructure, including VMware, firewalls, LAN/WAN, data centres, and monitoring platforms.
Manage and contribute to strategic IT transformation projects including network refreshes, systems integration, and onboarding of new departments.
Provide technical leadership and third-line support for critical services.
Deep technical knowledge of enterprise networking (switches, firewalls, routing, cabling).
A practical understanding of IT security best practices.
A track record of identifying service improvements and delivering creative technical solutions.
Familiarity with both Linux and Microsoft server environments.
Experience managing large-scale networks across multiple locations.
Familiarity with NAC tools, configuration management platforms, and IT service frameworks such as ITIL or ISO27001.
