This newly established function is responsible for operationalising and enabling HR processes to ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for all colleagues. As the primary gateway for HR support for both colleagues and people managers, it focuses on efficiency and delivering seamless, end-to-end employee lifecycle processes. Through this, we aim to provide essential HR services that enable outstanding colleague experiences.
As the Senior Manager, Specialist Services (Talent, Culture & Capability), you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving strategic initiatives within the Talent, Culture, and Performance Community of Expertise. You will lead the design and development of innovative programs, ensuring they are operationally viable and successfully implemented across the organisation.
In this senior leadership position, you will be instrumental in integrating and mobilising resources into business-as-usual operations. Your expertise will help foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence, aligning talent, culture, and capability initiatives with the organisation’s broader strategic goals.
What you'll be doing
•Oversee the operational delivery of the end-to-end performance cycle, ensuring seamless integration with strategy, reward, and other key touchpoints to enhance BT’s performance, inclusion, and effectiveness.
•Lead the planning, scheduling, reporting, and oversight of managed services' performance and direction.
•Drive continuous improvement by executing, refining, and enhancing Talent, Culture, Learning & Capability service operations for more effective delivery.
•Collaborate with Digital and the Centre of Expertise to shape future roadmaps and implement platform and module releases related to Talent, Learning, and Performance.
•Partner with the Talent, Culture & Capability COE to align and implement strategy across all colleague levels, including senior leaders. Focus areas include succession planning, mobility, readiness, and skills development. Monitor and optimise service quality, responsiveness, and efficiency to support organisational goals.
•Oversee the planning, scheduling, and reporting of learning initiatives, ensuring high performance from managed services. Provide expertise to support the mobilisation and operation of products, working closely with Portfolio, squads, and the COE.
•Ensure the smooth implementation of BT’s assessment methodology for talent identification and role evaluation, supporting inclusive and data-driven decision-making.
•Lead and mentor People & Culture team members, offering guidance in performance and talent management.
•Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies for performance and talent management, including oversight of mandatory learning administration. Manage compliance tracking and annual reporting to ensure accurate, timely submissions.
•Develop and maintain reporting mechanisms to track and communicate the impact of Talent, Culture, Learning & Capability COE initiatives.
•Provide training and support to People & Culture colleagues and stakeholders on HR systems, enhancing capability in performance, talent, and learning processes.
The skills you'll need to succeed
•Proven experience in implementing and managing end-to-end performance strategies, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and seamless integration with key business touchpoints.
•Demonstrated ability to execute, refine, and enhance performance management cycles to drive continuous improvement and more effective delivery.
•Extensive experience collaborating with stakeholders, including the Talent Centre of Excellence, to align and implement talent strategies.
•Strong track record of managing talent outcomes across all organisational levels, including succession planning, mobility, readiness, and skills development.
•Experience in applying assessment methodologies for hiring, talent identification, and role evaluation, with a focus on inclusivity and data-driven decision-making.
•Proven leadership in guiding and developing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
•Solid understanding of relevant regulations and internal policies to ensure compliance in performance and talent management.
•Skilled in developing and maintaining reporting mechanisms to monitor and communicate the impact of performance and talent initiatives.
•Experience in designing and delivering training and support programmes to build capability among managers and colleagues.
