The post-holder will provide general medical services in the out of hours period and deal with a wide range of health needs in the urgent care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
* Manage the medical requirements of patients who contact the service.
* Assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for the population of West Cheshire in the out of hours period.
* In accordance with the service rota as agreed, the post-holder will undertake clinical sessions at all bases including face-to-face appointments, telephone advice and visiting patients at home. Required shifts include evenings, weekends, night shifts and bank holidays. A minimum of working two weekends per month and 4 of the 8 bank holidays will be included in the rota. These duties should be performed in a timely manner using agreed protocols.
* Support clinical streaming within the A&E Department as rostered.
* Appointments will be 10 minutes duration and telephone advice will be offered as appropriate. A student or GP registrar maybe attached for these sessions.
* Undertake sessions in accordance with the access needs of the CCG population and the contractual obligation of the service.
* Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate.
* Provide appropriate preventative health care and advice.
* Provide medical support as required to patients referred by nursing staff.
* Provide free certification in line with Schedule 9 of NHS GMS Regulations (1992).
