We require an experienced Child Practitioner for the role of Senior within a national organisation’s unit on the outskirts of Colchester. You will work with young people with challenging behaviour and complex needs; understanding these complexities and having a proven record of working with young people is essential.
The position involves acting as an appropriate role model and supporting young people to achieve their potential. Responsibilities include providing care, overseeing contact supervision, meal preparation, coordinating activities, and following each child’s specific care plan aligned with the government’s five outcomes within Every Child Matters.
Applicants must be qualified to a minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Working with Children and Young People (or equivalent).
Main duties and responsibilities:
* Build strong professional relationships with service users and staff
* Maintain a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for young people and staff
* Keep up to date with communication and information systems
* Attend and actively participate in meetings
* Support young people in managing their behaviour using approved skills
* Promote equality, acknowledging individual differences
* Protect service users from abuse from staff, visitors, or other service users
* Write accurate reports for reviews and maintain records for monitoring
* Attend all required training and achieve relevant qualifications
* Attend work reliably and punctually, following a set shift pattern
* Stay updated with procedures and policy changes
* Ensure health and safety of yourself and others
* Undertake additional duties relevant to the role
* Take the lead in situations when required

Shift Patterns:
– 8am – 11pm with sleep shifts approximately 12 times a month
