The PRS Tenancy Support Officer will provide support to a caseload of clients, some with complex needs, to help maintain suitable PRS tenancies across the whole of the borough

We are recruiting a PRS Tenancy Support Officer to support the new in-house Private Rented Sector Lettings Service to attract and work with landlords in providing accommodation for clients. The role will help tenants who need extra support to sustain their private tenancies and to help reduce the number of households threatened with eviction.
You will help achieve positive outcomes through regular support planning, delivery, and review. You will support clients to complete tasks that help them to manage their lives better; to help to build customer’s confidence, personal worth, motivation, emotional well-being, and a positive work ethic. To accompany them where necessary whilst encouraging independence and providing advocacy where appropriate, and to assist with pre-tenancy processes and affordability checks.
Cheshire West and Chester Council’s new Private Lettings Service is being established to deliver high quality services for landlords and tenants in the Borough. The service aims to increase the supply of affordable private rental accommodation and work with landlords to help prevent homelessness and ensure the right support is offered at the right time. The pilot service has initial funding until December .
We are recruiting for a number of staff to work in the newly created team to be based in The Portal, Ellesmere Port. Work location will be flexible involving office-based, working from home, working at other council offices, and visiting landlords and tenants across the district.
There is a team of posts which form the pilot service: Team leader, Lettings officers (x), Support officer and Accommodation officer.
