Overview
Join to apply for the Registered Nurse role at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust on Peak View Ward at the Vale Community Hospital. We are a 20-bed unit that provides specialised stroke rehabilitation, sub-acute medical care, general rehabilitation and end of life care. We are primarily a nurse/therapy led unit with a focus on discharge planning and positive risk taking. We are looking for individuals who enjoy working closely with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team but who can also work autonomously within set guidelines. As a small community hospital we pride ourselves on the friendly atmosphere at the Vale Community Hospital. A tailored induction programme is provided, and you will be supported by ward team members together with our Teaching & Development Facilitator (sister).
Responsibilities
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care needs of a specific group of service users
* Supervise, mentor and teach qualified and unqualified staff including students
* Coordinate care for a specified group of service users
* Deliver safe and effective patient-centred care to service users, their families and carers
* Ensure all clinical care requirements are communicated effectively at ward handover to allow seamless care from shift to shift
* Undertake clinical audits to identify and improve patient safety and care
* Be responsible for the safe use, inspection, maintenance and security of all goods and equipment, ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained
* Be responsible for the checking and safe storage of patients’ property and valuables in line with the Trust’s policy
* Utilise non-medical prescribing or PGDs where applicable and ensure medicines optimisation/management meets required professional and Trust standards
* Implement and conform to Trust and Departmental Infection Control policies and procedures
